At Florida Southwestern State College (FSW), we understand the unique journey veterans and military personnel face when transitioning from service to academia. Through our dedicated Office of Veteran Services, we provide resources that ensure this transition is smooth and meaningful, supporting both academic success and personal growth. Our mission is to create a supportive community where veterans feel valued, both as students and as individuals with unique experiences.
Academic Support Tailored for Veterans
FSW is recognized by the Florida Bureau of State Approving Agency for veteran education and training. Veterans can utilize their V.A. benefits here, starting with meeting admissions requirements and becoming enrolled students. Once admitted, our School Certifying Officials (S.C.O.s) assist with navigating the benefits process, ensuring that tuition and educational expenses are covered efficiently. More than just administrative guides, our officials are empathetic and knowledgeable advocates, helping veterans maximize their benefits and stay focused on their academic path.
Building Community and Connection
Beyond academics, FSW fosters a community where veterans can connect with peers who share similar backgrounds and experiences. Through events and programs, veterans are encouraged to form meaningful connections that enhance their college experience. These peer networks provide support, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging on campus.
Accessible Support Across Campuses
Our Veteran Services Office, located on the Lee Campus, serves all FSW locations. Veterans at the Charlotte, Collier, and Hendry/Glades Curtis Centers can easily access services by submitting documents at their campus’s Financial Aid office, ensuring convenient support for all FSW veterans.
Enriching Cultural Experiences
FSW believes that veterans should have access to cultural and personal development opportunities. Through workshops, events, and discussions, veterans engage with the broader FSW community, expanding their perspectives and contributing their voices to campus life.
